Flash Player Problem

Flash Player is recently installed on my Apple Mac laptop but iPlayer says its Not ( as do other sites).
The red FP icon appears in my Utilities file as "Flash Player Install Manager" and if I click on it, a box says do you want to Uninstall Flash Player? So, do I have it or not?
I have Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 Safari is 5.1.10
iPlayer continues to say please Install Flash Player and I cannot view podcasts.
Help please.
