BBC Look East (availability question)

Postby Krautland » Sat Jul 07, 2012 4:02 pm

Would anybody know if this 30 minute programme is ever available for download on the BBC website? I checked Fridays programme, available, but only to stream.

They covered the Torch Relay here in Southend yesterday and I would love to grab that one since our aerial points in the wrong direction, Kent, so we have no reception.

Hi Frank,
Unfortunately the BBC don't make the news programmes available for download.

Also news programmes are only available for 24 hours.

Never really understood why they do that.

Thanks Matt, I noticed that yesterday. At the time of posting the question it was available, but only as a stream and later that evening even that had vanished. I guess it must be along the lines of 'nothing is as old as yesterdays news', plus it would clutter up their servers even more.

I found it on YouTube, not brilliant, looks like someone filmed if of a giant TV but it's better then nothing. This was the one occassion where I would have gone so far as making sure that it'll play at any time simply because I live in Southend and I was there at the Torch Relay on the beach and heard the choir that's just something I would have loved to keep.

Thanks again.

Thanks Matt and I would if I could. LOL. My connection never fails to disappoint. I managed to get through it eventually but not without it buffering about every 10 seconds (for at least 20 seconds). I reckon the Seabass under the Pier must have a better connection then I do.

Still, thanks for that.

Frank

Was just told that I can no longer edit or delete the previous post. How odd. Anyway, this is what I was going to add to it

PS: There are more and more clips off the telly being uploaded to YouTube, so I will download some of those. Let's hope that the Council had their wits about them and either have or will shortly make sure that the choir is actually recorded for posterity, mobile phone clips, however well meaning just aren't doing it justice.

To now take this completely off topic, if you like look and listen to this 13 min clip I originally found on YouTube, the sound is very good, apart from two short sections where I don't know what happened to the recording but it gives you a pretty good idea....

1,732 singers, now having been there... wow, that was good.
