About the opening ceremony

Postby nowuniverse » Mon Jul 23, 2012 7:56 am

I'm using iPlayer on Samsung Smart TV (2010 or 2011)
I have learned that the London 2012 opening ceremony will be available on iPlayer soon after live broadcast and I have several questions:

Will the event be available for all versions of iPlayer including my TV, consoles, mobile... or being restricted to certain devices?
How long will it take for the 3-hour live event to be available?
Will there be HD version of the ceremony in iPlayer?

Hi nowuniverse,
There is now an FAQ on the BBC's help pages which says that BBC Three content will only be available on:
PC
Mobile (including Android and iPhone Apps)
Smart/internet enabled TVs (including YouView)
PlayStation 3
Xbox 360

So I think content from BBC One and Two is possibly planned for all devices but I'm not sure about that.

Hopefully the Opening Ceremony will be processed for the iPlayer website within a few hours of the programme finishing (if the BBC use the fast encoders).

Technical problems etc. might cause delays.

Other platforms might take longer to process.

Not sure about HD availability.
